Tectonic plates theory

The tectonic plate is part of earth in uppermost part of mantle. a tectonic plate is a massive. Its is also called lithosphere plates. plates also move horizontally over the Asthenosphere  and uppermost part of mantle as rigid units. The tectonic plates also irregular forms slab of solid rock, In naturally lithosphere composed of both continental plates and oceanic plates.

The plates may be referred to as the continental plates or oceanic plates depending on which of the two occupy a larger portion of the plates.

The pacific plate is largely an oceanic plate, while the Eurasian plate may be called a continental plate. The theory of plate tectonics proposes that the earths lithosphere is divided into 7 major plates and smaller plates.

The lithosphere include the Crust and top of mantle, with its thickness range vary between this 5 to 100 kilometre in Ocean parts ( deep Ocean parts and top of mantle range of depth 5 km) and above 200 km in the continental area land area like mountains, plateaus.

List of 7 major tectonic plates

1. Antarctica and the surrounded Oceania plates is located on South Pole of the earth, Antarctica Continent area.

2. Pacific plates is the plate of oceanic tectonic plates is the largest tectonic plate of the earth. the Pacific plate interior hotspot forming the Hawaiian Island.

3. India Australia New Zealand plates - This is the part of oceanic plates. The ancient time Gondwanaland was involved India Australia New Zealand plates.

4. The Africa with the Eastern Atlantic floor plates.

5. Eurasia and the adjacent Oceanic plates.

6. South American (with western Atlantic floor separated from this North America plates along the Caribbean Island) plates.

7. North America (with western Atlantic floor separated from this south America plates along the Caribbean Island) plates.

List of Minor Tectonic plates

Apart from the major plates, there are some Minor plates.

1. Cocas Plate  - The plate located between central America and the pacific ocean.

2. Nazca Plate  - The plate located between south America and the pacific ocean.

3. Arabian Plate  -  The plate located in west Asia mostly the Saudi Arabian landmass.

4. Philippine Plate - The plate located in the Asiatic area and The pacific area.

5. Caroline Plate - The plate located in the Philippines and Indian plate (North of new Guinea )

6. Fuji Plate - The plate located in the North east of Australia.

7. Burma Plate - The plate located in the Southeast Asia.

8. Scotia Plate - The tectonic plate located on of the South Atlantic and Southern oceans.

9. Caribbean Plate - The plate is located on oceanic tectonic plate Central America and the Caribbean Sea off the north coast of South America.

10. Sudan Plate - The plate located on the majority of Southeast Asia.

11. Okhotsk Plate- The plate located on covering the Kamchatka Peninsula and Sakhalin Island of Russia.

12. Yangtze Plate - The plate other name South China Block or the South China Sub plate. The plate located on the southern China.

13. Indian Plate - The plate are located on Indian continent and Indian ocean. Its is originally a part of the ancient continent of Gondwana.

14 . Amurian Plate -  The plate is also located on northern and eastern hemispheres. The plate covers the Sea of Japan, the Korean Peninsula, the Manchuria land and Primorsky Krai.

15. New Hebrides Plate - The plate located on Pacific Ocean.
