Indian constitution 12th schedule
The provision of urban bodies has
been made in the constitution under the 12th schedule of the Indian
constitution. This schedule was added to the constitution by the 74th
constitutional amendment in 1993. The 12th Schedule of the Indian Constitution
provides for urban local government in urban areas like Municipal Corporation,
Municipality, Nagar Panchayat. Under the 12th Schedule of the Indian
Constitution, 18 subjects have been included by the Constitution for local
self-government in urban areas. Laws are made by the government under these
subjects. The 12th Schedule has been placed under Articles 243 (P) to 243 (ZG)
in Part 9 (A) of the Constitution.
