The forty second amendment act, officially known as The Constitution 42 amendment Act 1976, was enacted during the Emergency period 1975 -1977 by the Indian prime minister in india by Indira Gandhi.
Most provisions of the 42 amendment came into enforce on January 1977. others provisions were enforced from February 1977 and Section 27 enforce on April 1977. The forty second amendment is regarded as the most controversial constitutional amendment in history of Indian constitution. Many parts widespread change of the Indian Constitution in history of Indian constitution.
The most comprehensive amendment made so far to the constitution, Its is known as the "Mini-constitution" it's gave the effect on the Recommendation of Swaran Singh committee committee.

1.Added three new words secular, integrity and socialist in the Preamble of Indian constitution.

18.Empower the Parliament to decide from time to time the right and privilege of its members and committees.
19.Provided that the laws made for the implementation of directive principles cannot be declared invalid by the court on the ground of violence of some fundamental rights.
